COURTNEY LOVE'S STANDARDS SHOW AT RUSSIAN TEA ROOM GETS MIXED REACTIONS
June, 21 2001

Depending on who you ask, Courtney Love and Roddy Bottum's standards show at the Russian Tea Room in New York on Monday (June 18) either didn't go so well or was irreverently brilliant.

"She was appalling, screaming at the audience, stumbling around, and her act was a mess," a Broadway insider told the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday (June
20). " Most likely, the Broadway insider isn't aware of the fact that these are Love's usual stage antics.

In the same article, however, Scott Elliott -- artistic director of the off Broadway theater group, New Group -- described the performance as "irreverent, but
amazing." Journalists were not allowed to see the show, therefore there are no proper concert reviews of this performance.

Love and Bottum (of Faith No More and Imperial Teen fame) were trying out pop standards that they are writing for the rocker-actress' next movie, Hello Suckers (allstar, May 24 (http://www.cdnow.com/allstararticle/fid=269014)).
